A man describes a weekend retreat: cycling, confidence, meditation and sleep.
Recording 1:18 · played in full
How do you feel now in comparison to when you arrived? A lot better now than when I arrived. I arrived really low and down and felt like I was worthless now being here, I feel great. What has been the highlight of this weekend for you? Cycling. Doing all that cycling and I came first. Lovely. And what has changed within you? I feel happier, I feel more bright, I feel more confident and I do feel like I'm good enough. What are some new practices you'll continue on with? Continue on with meditation, cycling, the sleep. How are you feeling leaving? Sad. Very sad. I prefer it to go on a bit longer. Is there anything else you'd like to share? Great staff, always helpful and a bundle of fun. That's all the questions we've got so thank you. Thank you. Lovely.
A man describes a weekend retreat: connection, breathing practices and small steps.

How do you feel now in comparison to when you arrived? I suppose better than when I arrived. Yeah. It's all small steps but it's nice to be with people in a similar situation. It makes you realise you're not alone, you know. So yeah, I'm better, yeah, better. Good. It's good to hear. What has been the highlight of this weekend for you? Again, meeting people, talking to people who are in a similar situation. I think getting out of your life situation for a few days is nice. Having a break, having a rest, I think it's just as important. Yeah. Yeah, just getting away. It's been nice. It's just been nice. It's been good. It's been really good. First, what has changed within you? I wouldn't say much has changed. It's just more about understanding who you are and where you want to go, you know? You know? Yeah, so no, that's changed. Just small steps, isn't it? Yeah. Just continuing the right way, you know? I like that answer. What are some new practices you will continue on with? Breathing techniques, quite definitely, I think, the way forward for me. And the other one, the 1-5. But the breathing, really, it's a quick surefire way of regulating yourself, isn't it? Yeah. It's just getting into the practice and the habit of doing it. So yeah, that's definitely... Excellent. How are you feeling leaving? Optimistic. I feel better prepared than when I came here in terms of just being me, you know? And what I've got to offer the world rather than what's been taken away from me. I just feel better for myself to go and tackle things, you know? Yeah. And is there anything else you'd like to share? Yeah, I mean, you guys have been great. It's a lovely venue. I thought the retreat was well organised. You know, it wasn't... It wasn't systematically, we've got to do this, do that, do that. You could drop out, you could opt for it. It was relaxed, which I felt was quite important, you know? Apart from being told to go a better half-ten. But, no, it was good. I know you guys are sort of setting this up, and I was quite impressed. You know, it's good value for money. You know, and you get to meet... I think a lot of us are quite insular in our own ways, and you get to meet people. When you realise that they're similar to you, it makes you feel not so isolated, you know? Yeah. Yeah, it's been good. It's been really good. Please. I'm pleased the retreat's been able to be there, and do those things for you. You know, no-one's expecting life groundbreaking. Again, it's just another couple of steps up the ladder, isn't it? You know? So, yeah, it's looking good. It's been lovely to have you. Thank you for coming. Yeah, thank you. Yeah, go have it.
A man describes a seven-day retreat: a supportive group, running, sleep and phone habits.
Recording 1:32 · played in full
Hi Simon, this is your last day, your overall experience of the retreat, how has it been? When you came you didn't know many people, and how has the 7 days been for you? Yeah, great bunch of people, really supportive, that really helps out with the exercises as well because I didn't know all of the exercises that they do. It's been good. And how would you sum your experience in one word? Fun. And what would you say to those that are on the edge, they want to come but they've been nervous, what would you tell them? Yeah, nothing to be nervous about, it's a great group of people. I came here on my own, didn't know anybody beforehand so I'm very welcoming and supportive, so I'd go for it. What are the 3 best habits that you're going to take with you from this retreat that you're going to apply at home? Well, I'd already got the food one down pretty well, I think it's going to be more about sleep, not using my phone so much I found really great putting the phone away and just using it for like an hour in the evening instead of scrolling and also it was good to get back into running so I'm going to carry that on. Perfect, you had fun? Yep. Thank you very much. Absolutely.
